Depression and anxiety improve when healthy bacteria are added – whether through diet or probiotics – according to several dozen small randomized controlled trials. However, only a handful of those trials involved full clinical depression. This study adds to that count, but with a different result. [Link]

The probiotic used in the study was: Omnibiotic Stress Repair 7.5 billion organisms per 1 portion (3 g). Bacterial strains in the capsule were: B. bifidum W23, B. lactis W51, B. lactis W52, L. acidophilus W22, L. casei W56, L. paracasei W20, L. plantarum W62, L. salivarius W24 and L. lactis W19.
